Queridos docentes del mundo del inglés, les damos la bienvenida una vez más a nuestra conferencia anual que busca mejorar la enseñanza y aprendizaje del inglés en el aula de los más pequeñas y pequeños de nuestro país.

Este año la conferencia se llevará a cabo en la sede San Carlos de la Universidad del Desarrollo, ubicada en Av Honduras 12590, Las Condes, Santiago.

Usted contará con varias alternativas de traslado para asistir al evento:

  • Transporte público: Desde el metro Escuela Militar o Los Dominicos debe tomar el bus alimentador C02 o el troncal 421 hasta el paradero Av. Plaza con Camino al Alba y en Av. Plaza tomar la C09 hasta la Universidad del Desarrollo.
  • Taxi: el servicio de taxi demora aproximadamente 15 minutos (Desde metro Los Dominicos) y cuesta alrededor de $3.000.-
  • Bus acercamiento YLC: El British Council pondrá a disposición un autobús desde el metro Los Dominicos hacia la Universidad del Desarrollo, sede San Carlos.

Horario bus de acercamiento:

  • 14 marzo – 8:00 horas: Desde Metro Los Dominicos hasta Universidad del Desarrollo
  • 14 marzo – 18:10 horas: Desde Universidad del Desarrollo hasta Metro Los Dominicos
  • 15 marzo – 8:30 horas: Desde Metro Los Dominicos hasta Universidad del Desarrollo
  • 15 marzo – 14:10 horas: Desde Universidad del Desarrollo hasta Metro Los Dominicos
  • La universidad cuenta con estacionamientos gratuitos para los participantes que lleguen en sus vehículos particulares.

Dear English teachers of the world, we welcome you once again to our annual conference that seeks to improve the teaching and learning of English in the classrooms of our country´s youngest.

This year the conference will be held in the Universidad del Desarrollo at the San Carlos campus, located on Av Honduras 12590, Las Condes, Santiago.

There will be several transportation alternatives to get to the event:

Public transportation: From Metro Escuela Militar or Los Dominicos you must take the C02 or 421 bus to  Av. Plaza with Camino al Alba and from Av. Plaza take the C09 to the Universidad del Desarrollo.

Taxi: the taxi service takes approximately 15 minutes (from Los Dominicos metro) and costs around $ 3,000.-

YLC approach bus: The British Council will make a bus available from the Los Dominicos metro to the Universidad del Desarrollo, San Carlos campus.

March 14 - 8:00 a.m.: From Metro Los Dominicos to Universidad del Desarrollo

March 14 - 6:10 p.m.: From Universidad del Desarrollo to Metro Los Dominicos

March 15 - 8:30 a.m.: From Metro Los Dominicos to Universidad del Desarrollo

The university has free parking for participants arriving in private vehicles.

Plenary Speakers

Joanna Budden

Jo Budden is the content manager of the British Council’s global websites for learners: LearnEnglish Kids, LearnEnglish Teens and LearnEnglish. The sites provide free, self-access learning materials to an audience of over 50 million annual visitors. She was responsible for the launch of the LearnEnglish Teens site and now spends her time developing and maintaining the learning content across the three websites.

Jo has worked for the British Council since 1999 as a teacher, teacher trainer and materials writer. She has taught young learners and adults in Hong Kong, Egypt and Brazil, as well as Spain where she currently lives.

She’s also the author of Teen World (a photocopiable resource book for teenagers) and co-author of the secondary course book Interactive, published by Cambridge University Press.

Annamaria Pinter

Dr Annamaria Pinter is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Applied Linguistics, University of Warwick, UK. She is the author of Teaching Young Language Learners Oxford Handbooks for Language Teachers, Oxford University Press (2nd edition, 2017)
and Children Learning Second Languages, Palgrave Macmillan (2011). She is also an editor of an e-book series entitled Teaching English to Young Learners and a joint series editor of the Early Language Learning in School Contexts Series by Multilingual Matters. Dr Pinter has published extensively in ELT/Applied Linguistics journals, has written numerous book chapters and has given many plenary talks worldwide in the broad area of teaching young language learners. Dr Pinter’s research interests include all aspects of second and foreign language learning in childhood, inclusive and participatory research methods with children and facilitating children to become researchers. She is also interested in language teacher development, teacher research and task-based learning.

Claudia Rey

Claudia is a NILE (Norwich Institute for Language Education) affiliate trainer. She started off her teaching career as an ELT teacher for Primary School in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and later became a Secondary School ELT teacher and a college lecturer in Children´s Literature. Claudia has been a NILE trainer since 2007 specializing in the areas of Teaching Young Learners, CLIL for Primary Teachers, CLIL for Secondary Teachers and Teaching English through Literature in Secondary School. She is also an online course designer and tutor. She is the NILE Teaching English to Young Learners online course designer and moderator and has been a lead educator in the Teaching Your Subject in English online course designed by Cambridge Assessment English. With over thirty years as a practising teacher, Claudia’s work as a teacher trainer is deeply rooted in her classroom experience.

Pía Tabalí

I am Pía Tabali. I am a teacher of English from Chile. After graduating, I worked as a teacher of English to young learners at primary school in Chile. In 2011 after being awarded a scholarship from my country, I travelled to England to carry out my Masters in Applied Linguistics and TESOL at the University of Sheffield. Later, I undertook my doctorate studies at the University of Warwick. During my postgraduate studies, I have been involved in a wide variety of activities related to research, researching with children, teacher training, appropriate pedagogies to improve the teaching of English to young learners in EFL contexts, organizing conferences, seminars and workshops. As a teacher trainer, I have been working with in- service teachers conducting workshops and e-learning courses mentoring teachers of English working in the public system. Since 2013, I have been a lecturer at the university level developing modules of theory and practice of learning/ teaching with future teachers.

Vinicius Nobre

Vinicius Nobre is a managing partner at Troika. He has worked as a teacher, teacher educator, academic coordinator, international examiner, education manager and content developer in several contexts. Vinnie is a course book writer and has co-authored two methodology books: “Getting into Teacher Education: a handbook” (Cengage Learning), and “Teaching English Today: Contexts and Objectives” (SBS/DELI). He is a CELTA tutor and assessor, a DELTA tutor, past president of BRAZ-TESOL and member of their advisory board, a professor for the post graduation course at Estacio and a member of the New Routes Advisory Board. Vinnie has also published several articles, written chapters in academic publications and spoken as a guest in many international conferences. He holds an MA in Language Education from the University of Chichester, the COTE and the DELTA, the Certificate in Further Teaching of Business English from LCCI and a specialization certificate in Business Management.
